Sunset cruise from Naples via Port Royal and into the Gulf of Mexico
100_2617.JPG
Nice boat, to say nothing of the house
100_2618.JPG
That lawn's incredible
100_2619.JPG
Don't like your current multi-million dollar mansion? Bulldoze it flat and build a new one then!
100_2620.JPG
Now, _that's_ a nice boat
100_2625.JPG
What a lovely, er, silver pig?
100_2634.JPG
Sunset cruises are pretty popular around Naples and along the Florida Gulf Coast - you can see why.
100_2636.JPG
Like, wow :-)
100_2642.JPG
Exiting to the Gulf of Mexico from Port Royal, Naples, Florida. Now, would you build a $35M mansion at sea level in a region prone to hurricanes?
100_2658.JPG
It really ought to fizz when it hits, you know, but a splash is just as good.
100_2661.JPG
The sky is perfectly clear apart from a slight haze
100_2729.JPG
Is that a gated, or gatored, community you said you lived in? One of the inhabitants of the lake at Pelican Preserve, Ft Myers. This one's a tiddler - a mere 4ft long or so.
100_2804.JPG
Rosey-fingered Aurora announces dawn over the lake at Pelican Preserve, Ft Myers. There's an immaculate 18 hole golf course as part of the community amenities. And alligators. Did we mention the alligators?
100_2823.JPG
All the sprinkler water's recycled, apparently.
100_2825.JPG
It takes a lot of sprinkling to grow grass on, essentially, a sandy peninsula. Good job it's all recycled water.

Sunset over the lake at Pelican Preserve, Ft Myers. Can you hear the gazillions of frogs and crickets?

Waiting for the launch of NASA's New Horizons Pluto mission, just off the A1A 10 miles or so across the Banana River from the pad
100_2908.JPG
Still waiting for the launch of NASA's Pluto mission, but the wind's very high and launch was eventually scrubbed for the day.
100_2912.JPG
Somewhere near that building over there in the mist is a metal container that's going to travel 3 billion miles at an average speed of over 36000 mph for 9 years to reach Pluto. Inside it are some of the ashes of Clyde Tombaugh, who discovered Pluto in 1930.
100_2928.JPG
Another cracking sunset, which made up for the weather scrubbing the NASA New Horizons Pluto mission launch that we went to try and see.
100_2980.JPG
Don't ask, just don't, right? :)

This sunset watching could get to be a hobby - back on the Gulf Coast side near Ft Myers

Surfing in the sunset
100_3015.JPG
It's no wonder crowds gather to applaud each day's sunset.
100_3027.JPG
Almost there...

Love those colours
100_3654.JPG
15 minutes after sunset, and the light show's still going strong.

16 second exposure of Sirius rising over Ft Myers beach, with Orion above.

On Sanibel Island's south coast, looking back towards Ft Myers beach.

A tribute to evolution: live near the beach, catch your own fish, be able to fly. Dinosaurs are so sussed.

Sunset at the tip of Sanibel Island, just over the bridge on to Capitiva Island.

Today's sunset at Captiva will be mainly jellified

Those fine folks, the Casey family, whose new album is available from all good record stores.

Sunset approaches at Treasure Island beach, just north of St Pete's Beach.
100_3839.JPG
This is going to be a good one, you can tell.
100_3843.JPG
Envy's a deadly sin, y'know :)
100_3869.JPG
Treasure Island beach sunset. No pirates but the bird's got only one leg, if that helps...
100_3886.JPG
Perfect.
